Sanguine Effect: The Story

January 21st, 2020 the first case of COVID-19 was confirmed in the United States. Two months later the World Health Organization (WHO) officially declared COVID-19 a pandemic, which led to two years of lockdowns and regulations. Since then, approx. 101,714,157 covid cases have been reported in the US. However, with all of these numbers being read on TV and repeatedly popping up on our electronic devices, it’s easy to forget there are people behind them. Every American was touched by the pandemic in some way, shape, or form. With that being said, how did we cope with this phenomenon? This is exactly what young filmmakers Ari, Azzan, and Ajalon Williams sought to discover in May of 2020.

The Sanguine Effect (SE) documentary chronicles the lives of three nomadic brothers, displaced from their home in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, who set out on a journey to  find the positivity and hope hidden within the worldwide crisis. Following them through historical events such as the heated 2020 election, the January 6th Insurrection, and even the California Wildfires in the summer of 2021, viewers will learn hope can be found in the most dire of situations.
